Power is routed to the rear wheels via a rebuilt Benco four-speed manual transaxle with a 4.57:1 differential. Servicing completed in 2020 included replacement of an idle control valve solenoid, an oil change, and a transaxle flush.
Other additions include a stainless-steel treatments for the overflow tank, coolant lines, and exhaust system. Cooling is from a belly-mounted aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. Camping equipment includes a kitchenette with a sink, a 12-volt water pump, and portable BPA-free water tanks. The interior refresh also reportedly included the installation of a replacement Baltic Birch headliner, upholstery, spray-on bedliner flooring, curtains, and window and door seals. The bench seat folds into a bed, and a second sleeping platform is located in the pop-top that has been refurbished with replacement canvas materials. The rear compartment features millwork sourced from a 1970s-era Westfalia van and finished in replacement cherry woodgrain laminate. Approximately 2,500 miles have been added by the seller over the course of eight years, and total mileage is unknown. Speedhut gauges feature a GPS-based speedometer and a digital odometer indicating 323 miles. Vapor barriers were installed along all interior walls, and the replacement wiring harness was sourced from Rebel Wire. Work under current ownership has included refurbishment of the dashtop as well as the installation of woodgrain door and dash face treatments, retractable seat belts, and replacement sun visors, vents, and defroster tubes. The seller states that the pop-top lifting mechanism was repaired and lubricated following the repaint. The body features sliding rear windows and is equipped with a period Spirit “California” fiberglass pop-up camper top that was repaired, reinforced, and painted in Pearl White under current ownership. The underside and cabin floors were coated with epoxy primer and urethane bedliner, and the body was refinished in Mouse Grey. Per the seller, the bus was disassembled and media blasted during the 2017 refurbishment, and portions of the body were repaired with replacement metal.
